With the autumn colours just emerging, is it unleashing some creative energy in you that you would like to explore? The good news is that an autumn-themed workshop in North Hastings might be the ideal creative outlet for you.
The Art Gallery of Bancroft is featuring a new series of workshops called “Get your creative on!” which will take place on Sunday, Oct. 2 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the AGB located at 10 Flint Ave. in Bancroft.
The next guided painting experience is with award-winning artist, Allan O’Marra. Appropriately named, “Fall from below,” it will focus on the view from below and looking up through the branches of a tree covered in brightly coloured leaves.
Allan O’Marra is a graduate of OCAD University in Toronto, a fine artist and art teacher, jurist and curator, who has had 40 solo art exhibitions and over 100 group shows over his 50-year career. Although much of O’Marra’s working life has been away from North Hastings, he still spends much time in his family’s long-time residence, a former one-room schoolhouse just outside downtown Bancroft.
Whether this is the first time you are picking up a paint brush, or you have some experience on which you want to build, this workshop will enlighten your understanding of everything from planning the composition, to mixing colours to bringing it all together to create a beautiful piece of work.
Paint and canvas are supplied. Just bring your enthusiasm and creative spirit.
The workshop is $20, with registration through the AGB website www.artgallerybancroft.ca
